The Cézallier, amidst lakes and volcanoes

    A protected area

Located between the Sancy mountains in the north and the Cantal mountains in the south, the vast plateaus of the Cézallier create an opening in the surrounding volcanic landscape. The peak of the Signal du Luguet in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park reaches as high as 5.089 feet.

    Feeling good

The large expanse of the Cézallier is the perfect setting for hiking, riding horseback, and mountain biking, and a paradise for lovers of cheeses, mushrooms, blueberries and wild raspberries. It also is a protected area, welcoming and authentic, with much to discover: nature, landscape, heritage, gastronomy…

    A great history

Ardes sur Couze is a picturesque village at the edge of the Cézallier. Built on a basaltic headland, it still preserves many features of its medieval past and its links with the influential Mercoeur family
